Adrenal fatigue symptoms are fatigue and a lack of energy throughout the day. There are other signs and symptoms of adrenal fatigue, but diagnosis is usually begun when the patient complains of an everyday form of fatigue.
But, who isn’t tired? Other adrenal fatigue symptoms can be fearfulness, allergies, frequent influenza, arthritis, anxiety, depression, reduced memory, difficulties in concentrating, insomnia, and the inability to lose weight after extensive effort. The previous list of symptoms may not just be symptoms of adrenal fatigue as they may be caused by other health issues also.
Adrenal fatigue symptoms are often debilitating. The onset of adrenal fatigue is often slow and insidious.
Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue
- Tendency to gain weight and unable to lose it
- High frequency of getting the flu and other respiratory diseases
- Reduced sex drive
- Lightheaded when rising from a horizontal position
- Unable to remember things
- Lack of energy in the mornings and in the afternoon between 2 to 4 pm
- Feel better suddenly for a brief period after a meal
- Often feel tired from 9 – 10 pm, but resist going to bed
- Need coffee or stimulants to get going in the morning
- Cravings for salty, fatty, and high protein food such as meat and cheese
- Feels better when stress is relieved, such as on a vacation
- Difficulties getting up in the morning
There is a very easy way to tell if your adrenals are fatigued. A simple saliva test will measure the two main adrenal hormones: cortisol and DHEA.
